A message from our NCRC President: Norm O’Brien
President’s Message
Welcome to my May note from North County Republican Club. Right now, our country is under attack from within. The plan is to slowly make the constitution irrelevant. You’ve all heard of plans to get rid of the electoral college,
add high numbers of judges to the Supreme Court, Increase the number of Senators, and eliminate the filibuster. It’s amazing how 7 short articles cause so much anxiety. So, we’ve invited 2 representatives of the Patriot Academy
to talk about protecting the Constitution. We hope you attend and find the presentation useful. Last month’s meeting in which our District 31 representatives discussed various aspects of the numerous bills
passed and some which didn’t, resulted in lively exchanges with the attendees. We’re thankful some of the most outrageous bills did not pass.
The central committee continued with its lecture series and had Derryck Green fly in from California to discuss how to effectively engage in our school boards. You could tell this was a hot topic by the large turnout and the number of questions it generated. I’m told that the talk resulted in 2 of the attendees agreeing to run for the school board in the 2024 election. Of note was that this was the first event I attended which was picketed by a few screaming liberals. They congregated across the 4-lane street, so they were of no consequence. It illustrated the fact that we are getting close to their vulnerable areas.
I had high hopes for a GOP sponsored ZOOM call about early voting and absentee ballots. I thought that they had finally come up with a plan to compensate or attack the democratic abuse of the system and their cheating. Apparently, they don’t think it’s happening, or we don’t have to address it. Overall, I found their ZOOM call totally lacking in new ideas.

Guest Speakers: #1 Nandi Randolph
Nandi graduated from Southeastern University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Biology Education. After graduation, she taught middle school STEM Science and later moved on to high school Honors & AP Biology and Physics classes. Leading the charge over the biology department as the youngest teacher on staff at the high school, Nandi was influential in bringing up overall science scores and making Lakeland Senior’s science department number one in the district. Feeling a tug on her heart and quite different from that of the classroom, Nandi left the school system in March of 2015 and began working with the Florida Family Policy Council. While with the FFPC, Nandi Randolph was influential in various projects, including the PMM tour, which covered fourteen Florida cities in nine days to provide legal advice to leaders across the state. During her time at the FFPC would receive a Master’s in Educational Leadership and go on to complete two years of legal training at Florida A&M University. Her training and previous experience within the Family Policy Council network was influential in connecting her with the Delaware Family Policy Council, where she has been the acting Policy Analyst and lobbyist since the spring of 2019. Though deeply connected in the policy realm, Nandi’s love for education continues as she works on the dissertation for her doctorate in Education as well.
